More Rock: D.O.G., YGYS, Taiwan Psych, et al
By Sep 18, 2015 Nightlife
If the spread of gigs I outlined on Monday didn't quite sate your appetite for the rock: here are a few more live shows happening between now and Sunday evening all over the proverbial (and literal) rock'n'roll map:

A few anniversary gigs for starters. On Saturday, local punk promoters D.O.G. celebrate three years of keeping it filthy at their home base of School Bar. Expect a raucous scene soundtracked by assuredly drunken tunes from The Diders, The Hotline, Secret Club, Li Shi, Pennicillin, and Dirty Fingers from Shanghai. 80rmb for dudes, free for ladies. 8:30pm start. More

Also on Saturday: Beijing institutions Yugong Yishan and Maybe Mars combine celebrations for their 11th and 8th anniversaries, respectively. Live music from Carsick Cars, Whai, The Eat, and Huzi + Edo + Diva Li of Pet Conspiracy, followed up by late-night DJ sets from Mickey Zhang, Dio, Eddie Lv, Ouyang, Weng Weng, and QQ. 100rmb at the door, 9pm start. More

Also on Saturday (busy night): Ao Club in Sanlitun SOHO takes a break from its regularly scheduled trad jazz / samba programming to present a bit of Taiwanese psych and indie rock. Forests and Sunset Rollercoaster cross the Strait to play alongside like-minded local noise rock luminaries Birdstriking. 80rmb, 9pm start. More

On to Sunday, when we're not quite so spoiled for options: Beijing vinyl label Genjing Records releases their latest wax slab, Frankenstein by MeToo. They say to expect "full-on bangers which combine glitchy, 8 bit inspired electronics, power chords, spooky synth lines, reverb drenched Mandarin vocals and insanely precise production that somehow translates into flat-out accessibility." Support on the night from Death Narcissist and Boiled Hippo. 50rmb cover, 9pm start. More
