Saturday is the Longest Day of the Year, so you know what that means: annual quantity-over-quality music thing, Fête de la Musique. It's a French export that's been happening in Beijing for the past few years. Thirty venues will have free live music / DJ gigs, mostly focused in the Gulou area. There are about 50 different acts playing. At least half of them are expats, which seems insane to me. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the actual musicians involved don't get paid a red cent despite the long list of financial partners.
Shoutout to Live Beijing Music for collating the schedule, there's not a snowball's chance in hell I would have taken the initiative to do it myself. Get the full Beijing Music Day scoop here.
