Your Weekend in Weird Music
By Jul 16, 2015 Music
Looking for strange sounds to sway to this weekend? Here's a trio of off-key gigs going down tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday to spare your ears their usual rock and club buzz:

First up, tonight, What Bar hosts visiting Australian "woozy electronic pop" crafter Pare Ohm for the first stop of his DIY China tour. He's holding it down by the Forbidden City west gate with local heads Wenliang, Dongxu, Hadi, and Guijian. Free, 10pm start.

If you can't make that, Pare Ohm's playing an intimate in-store encore on Saturday at fRUITYSHOP. There his set will be supplemented with a rare performance from Little Punk, and the adhoc duo of thruoutin and noise666 performing a set of "world noise" as t6. No entry fee, 8:30pm start.

Finally, if you missed the two launch events for new crypto-label Muted Portraits earlier in the week, you have one last chance to get down with the weird vibes of New York-based artist Gao Jiafeng. On Sunday at Aotu Studio, he'll through a "storytelling party" featuring himself and friends improvising with the vocal cords only. 8:30pm start.
