I: Project Space Opening Tomorrow
By Nov 7, 2014 Arts
Here's an art thing for the weekend: new Beixinqiao hutong micro-gallery I: Project Space has an opening tomorrow. dì 地儿, the upstart alternative gallery space / artist residency's second exhibition, features the work of three artist groups challenging concepts of space, "the gallery", the hutong environment. A group called Invisible Elephant will have a giant camera obscura projecting the outside of the gallery and the spectator onto the gallery walls; artists Song Xi & Yang Xinjia present findings from a week-long residency in which they invited friends to live among a Beijing migrant worker community, subsisting on the minimum wage of 60rmb per day; and Utopia Group builds a "fictional history mashup" from field recordings taken in the vicinity of the gallery.

The opening reception runs from 4-7pm on Saturday. More info here. We're gonna check it out ourselves and report back on SMBJ next week, stay tuned...
