Earth, Sea, and Sky: Nature in Western Art—Masterpieces from The Metropolitan Museum of Art
New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art sends 130 of its pieces, aged between 5,000 years and a few decades old, to Beijing for a major collaborative exhibit at the National Museum of China. The traveling exhibition, which was previously shown in Tokyo, is an assemblage of Western art grouped under the wonderfully ambiguous and inclusive theme of "nature." There are landscapes, there are animals, there are flower gardens, there are seascapes. It's an exhibition that samples much of the Met's collection (12 of 17 curatorial departments contributed). It's free, and the museum is open Tuesday-Sunday, 9am-5pm.
